I always think summer is going to be a relaxing time off, but that rarely turns out to be the case! It’s been crazy hot in the last few weeks, and here are a few highlights from our summer so far!
My husband and I just celebrated our 25th anniversary! We kinda did a staycation in that we stayed local (only an hour from home), but we did leave the country and our room was on the 49th floor of a 50 story building in downtown Dallas! We enjoyed some tasty food and different scenery from the country life. As a souvenir, I got some lemongrass and a succulent at a nursery in the Dallas Farmer’s Market. 🙂

Most of my year is spent driving kids to jobs and activities, and there’s been little change to that schedule this summer! I fill my time in the car (two hours almost every weekday), enjoying 1-on-1 time with my kids, and the alone time listening to audiobooks, podcasts and training calls.
It’s been crazy hot here with heat indexes of 110 and higher! My garden is at a standstill until it cools off, and with that heat, our family has been getting up extra early to build a floating platform on our pond!

And I ordered a bunch of poultry… because apparently, I don’t have enough going on. 😅 In my defense… those are not all mine. My sister and niece went in on a mail-order with me and I’m babysitting while they get their brooders ready. (OK, the ducks are all mine!)

As homeschoolers, we usually do our family trips during the school year. We visited the Grand Canyon in April, when I was celebrating another milestone! I’d love to hear where you’re traveling this summer… especially if it’s someplace cooler! 🤣
How I’m staying cool this summer:
- Hair up with Lilla Rose Hair Accessories!
- Misting my face with Rosewater!
- Drinking lots of water!
- Keeping up with my Scripture reading & writing plan! (indoors)
- Hosting virtual parties!
- Working from home… or the 49th floor!
As a thank you for reading my blog –
