Hi, I’m Sue Ellen! I’m a fire wife and homeschooling mom of 4. My son just graduated from homeschool this summer and has entered the workforce! My girls are 15, 13, and 11, and they help me with our hair accessory business.
I’ve been a country girl all of my life and a Christian for over 40 years! I love to garden (veggies and flowers) and I love animals. I’ve recently been learning how to embrace being the slow-paced introvert that God created me to be, and our country lifestyle fits me just right. Our little homestead includes dogs, cats, chickens, ducks, geese, guineas, and goats, as well as pet guinea pigs and a rabbit. (Fun fact: rabbit manure doesn’t have to be composted before used on the garden! Bet you weren’t expecting to learn that today!) lol
I joined Mary & Martha in May 2020, a time that will go down in history as the time of lockdowns and stay-at-home orders. I loved the hope & encouragement that this company offers, while pointing everyone to Jesus! This was really needed during 2020, and I believe, still needed today.
If you haven’t heard of M&M (no, I’m not talking about the candies), we are the direct sales division of DaySpring, which is now part of the Hallmark company. We bring you that high quality you trust from those brands, but we’re all about the message!

Expanding our reach
Every purchase made through this Gathering, as well as future purchases, and dedicated donations, help support Compassion International. We are partnered with Compassion to provide nutrition, education, medical care, spiritual support and more for children in the Arusha region of Tanzania, Africa. In the fall of 2021, we went a step beyond and did an extra drive for Compassion Tanzania, raising money specifically for young girls to be able to stay in school, rather than having to drop out and get married. (We are not opposed to marriage, but we’re talking about girls as young as 11 that were being married off because their family couldn’t afford to feed them.) As a mom of daughters, I couldn’t imagine a situation so desperate, and feel so honored to be a part of giving back to Compassion. Our family has also served as a Compassion Sponsor since 1999, and my parents were before that, so I know this is a long term ministry with a track record of making a difference in the Kingdom of God!

Home and Table are the Martha collections. Martha often gets a bad rap for complaining that her sister was not helping, but it is not a bad thing to be hospitable or to serve and make your guests comfortable, either.
1 Peter 4:9 says, “Cheerfully share your home with those who need a meal or a place to stay.” In Matthew 20:28, Jesus taught about us to serve like him, “For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

Luke 10 teaches us that Mary sat at the Lord’s feet, listening to what he taught, and in verse 42, Jesus said, “There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.”

I know every company’s Consultants will tell you that they’ve really enjoyed the people they’ve met through this business model. And it’s true – I’ve been involved with a number of companies over the years, and am still an independent consultant with another company as well. You do meet amazing people in direct sales and make some great friendships.
I think the thing that sets Mary & Martha apart for everyone else is the faith-based culture that indwells from Corporate on down. They pray for the kits before they’re mailed out. They pray for the Consultants by name and even send out hand-written encouragement cards. (I got a hand-written prayer card this summer!) The Consultants pray for each other and do Bible studies and devotionals together and with our Customers. The Truth of God’s Word is woven throughout this business opportunity.
