Flexi SPORT: Perfect Summer Hair Accessory!

John has worked with engineers and product testers for even longer before that, trying to find the perfect materials that would hold up to the rigorous use of our amazing hair accessories.

What he came up with is a no-slip grip that’s perfect for high ponytails, active lifestyles, children, water activities… and just every day! (in fact, I’ve had one since July 2021 and my youngest has been wearing it pretty much 24/7 since then!)

Key points of warning: TPE is a fantastic material in it’s durability, flexibility, and more! However it is susceptible to heat. You’re going to want to make sure to check your pockets in the laundry room. One of our Stylists accidentally washed, and dried, her Sport. It was not good. (Many of us have washed and dried the original Flexi-Clip with little to no damage.) Also, I live in Texas, where the heat in the car can become deadly in just a few minutes. Your new Flexi Sport would likely not survive that either.

2021: The Year of the Gratitude Journal

What are you thankful for? That 2020 is over!

No, seriously, think about what you’re thankful for! This is my focus for 2021. Living with a spirit of gratitude changes your life, but it’s not something that comes easy for most people. We have to be intentional about it. That’s why I’ve started a gratitude journal.

Gratitude Journal from Step Into Success

My 2021 Planner came with a small gratitude journal, pictured above, but there’s lots of places you can get one of these, or you can just use a spiral notebook. I find it easiest to write in mine every night before going to bed. Just a sentence or two is enough. Here’s some prompts for your daily entries:

Today I’m grateful for…
A person I’m grateful for is…
Something in nature I’m grateful for is…
The best thing that happened today is…
Something that made me smile today is…
I’m looking forward to….
A hobby I’m grateful for is…
It’s important to practice gratitude because…
A complement I’ve received lately is…
I’m grateful for this friendship…

You see? It’s not difficult to get started. If you need additional help, simply google “gratitude journal prompts” and you’ll have a huge list to get you started!

As a woman of faith, I also use those sale notification emails as an opportunity to practice gratefulness, and as a prayer prompt. I thank God for the clients he brings my way, that he prompts them to remember me when shopping, and that he would bless them. Gratefulness, therefore, takes our minds off ourselves.

Research at Harvard Medical School found that practicing gratefulness makes you more optimistic, feel better about your life, exercise more, and have fewer visits to the doctor, even! I hear that some doctors are even recommending keeping a gratitude journal to their patients as another method to improve their overall health!

As far as business goes, there are many reasons why being grateful is good for business. People enjoy doing business with grateful people. Being grateful takes your focus off of yourself and onto your clients, which drives you to better customer service. Grateful people attract grateful people, which is a good place to be in life as well as in business. Need more reasons? Just google, “does being grateful increase sales,” then pause for a moment and be thankful for the clients you already have and the information you are learning.

Here are some examples of gratitude journals, but keep in mind you can also use a spiral notebook:

Great Gifts for Mom

Let’s face it. Moms rock. But even with all that awesomeness, sometimes we’re at a loss when it’s time to give them gifts. Here’s a few ideas for gifts for Mom, whether it’s Mother’s Day, her birthday, Christmas or other special time. If you’ve got some great ideas, leave them in the comments!

Mothering is hard work and often comes with little down time! Pick a pretty container and make a Pampering Basket for her! Include things like Rosewater or Sea Salt Spray, spa socks, relaxing lavender lotion, massage certificate, a Large Upin or XS Flexi, or a Sleep mask. When I was young, I did the pampering gift, even simpler, and got my mom some Calgon Bath Beads! Easy for a kid with limited funds, and still appreciated by my Momma that enjoyed reading in the tub. I was surprised to see you can still get Calgon Bath Beads – and now even gift sets are available online and probably in stores, too. She also enjoyed gift cards to bookstores along with her bath beads!

You can never go wrong with flowers! Almost universally, moms enjoy getting flowers. Whether a bouquet, a hanging basket, a corsage, or a perennial for her garden, flowers always tell mom she’s loved! Make sure to include her favorite color either in the blooms or in ribbon accents. (Never Lose Faith Arrangement by Twinbrook Floral Design. My mom would have loved this with the blue carnations, keepsake vase, and scripture reference.)

For the holidays, my mom would have loved this wreath with blue accents, too! To this day, I still always add blue flowers to her arrangements.

Of course, I must add my favorite accessories to the list, too. Most moms deal with hair a lot, whether their own or that of their daughters. And even though the “mom bun” is trending nowadays, moms do like to be noticed and look pretty.

Enter Lilla Rose. As you can see from this collage above (click to enlarge), there’s a pretty good variety of styles to meet the needs of most moms. Of course, I went with the blue theme again. My kids know to pick purple for me. One of my favorite gifts that I gave to my mom was a new Bible cover similar to this one. She was with me when we were shopping that day. I showed her several Bible covers and she picked one with a beautiful tapestry of flowers on the cover. Of course, the background was blue and it included little blue flowers in the design. I told her that would be perfect, and I bought the gift for my “friend.” When Christmas rolled around and she unwrapped the gift, it was quite memorable! I’m smiling now just remembering the time.
